Sambalpur, June 23 (UDN): A video purportedly showing a couple engaging in inappropriate behaviour within the premises of the revered Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage among devotees and residents.
According to reports, the incident reportedly occurred a few days ago in a project area situated inside the temple complex. The viral footage allegedly shows the couple spending a considerable amount of time at the spot and behaving in a manner deemed inappropriate for a religious place.
The incident has sparked sharp reactions from devotees, who have expressed concern over the alleged breach of decorum within the shrine premises. Many have questioned how such an incident could take place despite the deployment of security personnel and the presence of CCTV surveillance across the temple complex.
The episode has once again brought the issue of security and monitoring at the temple into focus. Local residents and devotees have called for enhanced vigilance, stricter enforcement of rules and improved surveillance mechanisms to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Significantly, concerns regarding security at the temple had surfaced earlier following reports of alleged consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food near the Bhoga Ghar area. The latest incident has further intensified demands for tighter security measures and round-the-clock monitoring within the temple premises.
Temple authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
