Phulbani Hosts Disaster Preparedness Workshop, Focusing on Risk Reduction and Crisis Management Strategies

Phulbani, June 24 {UDN}:: A District-Level Disaster Preparedness and Table Top Exercise–2026 was successfully organized at the District Council Conference Hall under the joint initiative of the Kandhamal District Administration and the District Disaster Management Authority, with support from the Odisha Disaster Management Authority (ODMA).
The workshop was conducted with the objective of strengthening preparedness and ensuring an effective response to future natural disasters. Senior officials, including Additional District Magistrate Kushal Chandra Nayak, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Shambhunath Nandi, Project Administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Phulbani Yudhishthir Meher, and State-Level Observer Shakadim Khan, attended the programme and participated in detailed discussions.
Officials from various district and block-level departments were also present. During the exercise, strategies were discussed to effectively tackle possible emergencies such as cyclones, floods, and other natural calamities. The speakers emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and timely communication during disaster situations.
Special focus was given to ensuring the rapid flow of information from the grassroots level, quick evacuation of people to safer locations, efficient rescue operations, and the swift distribution of relief materials. A comprehensive action plan was prepared to strengthen disaster response mechanisms across the district.
Disaster management experts also attended the workshop and provided valuable guidance to officials on field-level preparedness, emergency response procedures, and best practices for minimizing risks during disasters. The programme highlighted the district administration’s commitment to enhancing resilience and safeguarding lives and property during emergencies.
