Bhubaneswar, June 24 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister highlighted the strategic importance of maritime security and coastal development, stating that seas serve as “gateways to growth” during a maritime security meeting focused on enhancing coastal resilience and economic opportunities.

He underscored that Odisha’s long coastline offers significant potential for trade, logistics, fisheries and tourism, and stressed the need to strengthen maritime infrastructure to fully harness the benefits of the blue economy.
The Chief Minister said coastal security remains a key priority, given the growing importance of safeguarding critical maritime assets and ensuring the safety of coastal communities. He called for improved coordination between security agencies, port authorities and coastal development bodies.
He also emphasised that investments in port-led development, shipbuilding support systems and coastal connectivity can play a transformative role in driving economic growth and employment generation in the region.
Officials present at the meeting discussed strategies to enhance surveillance systems, disaster preparedness and sustainable utilisation of marine resources.
The address reflected Odisha’s broader vision of integrating maritime security with long-term economic development, positioning the state as an emerging hub for coastal and ocean-based industries.
