Jharsuguda, June 24 (UDN): Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former President of the Jharsuguda Bar Association, Trinath Gual, was found dead near a railway track in Jharsuguda on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through political and legal circles in the district.

According to police sources, Gual's body was recovered from near the railway tracks under mysterious circumstances. A handwritten note was also reportedly found at the spot, prompting investigators to examine all possible angles surrounding the incident.
On receiving information, police and railway authorities rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Investigators are scrutinising the contents of the handwritten note and collecting evidence from the spot as part of the probe. Police officials said no conclusion has been drawn so far, and the exact circumstances leading to Gual's death will be established only after the completion of the investigation and forensic examination.
The untimely death of the senior lawyer and politician has cast a pall of gloom over Jharsuguda. Leaders cutting across party lines, members of the legal fraternity and local residents have expressed grief and paid tributes to Gual, recalling his contributions to both public life and the legal profession.
Police said the investigation is underway and further details are awaited.
