Jharigaon, June 23 {UDN}: An awareness programme was organized by the Jharigaon Police Administration under the Ardra-Police Committee at the Belgaon Gram Panchayat office in Jharigaon block of Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Jharigaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rachita Madkami highlighted the importance of road safety awareness. She advised parents not to allow underage children to drive vehicles and urged everyone to follow traffic regulations. She emphasized avoiding drunk driving, wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers, using horns at blind turns, switching on indicators, and reducing vehicle speed at curves and intersections.
She also stressed the need to follow the path of non-violence and maintain peace in society. To build a healthy, safe, and disciplined community, she encouraged citizens to maintain good relations with the police and extend cooperation to law enforcement agencies. She further spoke about the collective responsibility of society in promoting development, preventing child marriage, ensuring quality education for children, and creating awareness among youth.
The participants were also educated about the harmful effects of superstition and the growing threat of cybercrime. The programme aimed to strengthen community participation in maintaining law and order while fostering social awareness and responsibility.
Among those present were Belgaon Sarpanch Thabir Pujari, local intellectuals, prominent citizens, and members of the public. Police personnel including Muralidhar Bisoyi, Manjula Sahu, and Ram Santa, along with other staff members, assisted in conducting the awareness programme successfully.
