Bhubaneswar, June 24 (UDN): In a sombre development, the mortal remains of five Odia workers who lost their lives in the recent gas leak tragedy in Tamil Nadu were brought to Bhubaneswar on Tuesday amid widespread grief and emotional scenes.

The victims had died in the industrial gas leak incident, which claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. Their bodies were flown back to Odisha under arrangements facilitated by the state government and local administration.

At Bhubaneswar, family members, relatives and officials gathered to receive the remains, with an atmosphere of deep mourning prevailing as last respects were paid to the deceased workers.

The Odisha government has intensified relief and support measures for the bereaved families. Officials confirmed that assistance, including financial support and other welfare measures, is being extended as per government provisions for the families of deceased workers.

Senior state officials expressed condolences and assured full support to the families during this difficult time. Arrangements have also been made for the transportation of the bodies to their native places for final rites.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the safety of migrant workers, with calls for stronger protective mechanisms and monitoring of labour conditions in industrial units outside the state.
